Comets

Comets are chunks of Ice, dust and gas. When a comets orbit passes close to the Sun, some of the ice melts, creating a gigantic tail of dust and gas.

The orbit of a comet is elliptical. As a comet nears the Sun it starts to move faster and, when it moves away from the Sun, the comet moves more slowly.
